At some point, I hope to have some of these growing in our yard. For now, at least, I have been very happy to see them growing in several places along the forest path.

Red Too

The Red Columbine are a little slower, but they are going to put on a good show too.

Columbine In Force

The Columbine are really putting on a show now. I’m letting the plants spread, so maybe it will get even better!

More Buckeye

The buckeye continues to entertain with its flower spikes. These are typically very popular with the bees, but it doesn’t seem like there are that many around this year.

He’s Back

The Pileated Woodpecker again. He was really going to town on a fallen log.

Heavenly Scent

The columnar crabapples next to the deck are blooming very well this year and provide a fabulous scent when the winds are not too strong.

Sad Red-Winged Blackbird?

More rain – more water in the retention ponds. I wonder if the rising water caused issues for this bird’s nest.

Moss

All the Spring wetness has resulted in things like some great moss growing at the base of some of the trees in the forest.

Columbine

The Blue and Yellow Columbine are starting to bloom. They have done well. It seems like the rabbits will snip one or two flowers off and realize that they don’t actually like to eat them – but we have enough plants now that it really doesn’t matter.
