We planted a few of these last year and already this year we’re going to have a couple of flowers. A really nice bit of colour now that the crocuses are done.

Our Blue Flag Irises are blooming again after four long years. A great splash of colour – hopefully we don’t have to wait as long for the next appearance.

I had put some cages around the Blue-Eyed Grass, but this year it has done its own thing AND managed to escape the rabbits notice.

I saw this growing wild in the forest. Siri suggests that this is actually Smooth Carrion Flower. I think I prefer my name.

We’ve considered various native roses for the yard, but it sounds like they can be hard to control. Thankfully they are growing in several areas around the neighborhood.

We just planted these last year – they were already blooming before they even got planted! They seem to be pretty happy this year.

I’ve been letting the Columbine spread, but this year the red has really made a big leap – to the stone area near the house. I think they may start to need some regulation.

The city has planted a pretty wide variety of trees throughout the neighborhood. There are two trees like this in one area.

I have been quite happy to let the crocuses spread where they will. These are on the south side of the driveway. We have earlier flowers now as a result.

This year we are growing Mallards in the front shrub bed. It complicates life a bit, but is sure to be interesting.
