Dramatic Clouds
Every now and then we get some pretty dramatic looking sunsets visible from the back yard.
-
Giant Yellow Flowers
These flowers are huge – both in height and the size of the heads
-
Common Milkweed…
… is actually fairly common along the paths. Great news for the Monarch butterflies. I have seen some glimpses of orange butterflies when on my walks, so hopefully we’re maintaining a few Monarchs.
-
Wild Bergamot
These are looking great this year. They seem to have gotten pretty well established in this spot, so maybe I’ll try to spread them around a bit.
-
Yellow Coneflower
Attempt #2 at getting these established. One of the spots from attempt #1 seems to show great promise in the spring and then just sudden stop growing mid-year. Fingers crossed…
-
Alien Attack
I caught this grasshopper somehow attached to our living room window.
-
Jewels
The cherries look great this year, but the total harvest was about a quarter of what it was last year. Several days of blustery weather hit just as the blossoms were in their prime, so I was not too surprised.
-
Wet Bergamot
The many surfaces of the wild bergamot are great at holding on to the water droplets.
-
Purple Prairie Clover
I adjusted the fencing around these last year and maybe that did the trick. They still grow higher than the fence and are probably available if the rabbits stand on their hind legs – but maybe they aren’t worth that sort of effort.
-
Tiny Wee Tomatoes
The cherry tomatoes are looking good.
