Wild Black-Eyed Susan
We’ve grown these in the past – and are trying more now in a new location – but these are growing in the long grass around one of the retention ponds.

Random Yellow Flower
In the past I’ve tried to identify the many ever-so-slightly different yellow flowers that I come across. I’ve pretty much given up, but it doesn’t stop me from appreciating how nice they can be and the variety that there is. There seemed to be a lot more yellow flowers of various types growing in the…

Giant Flax
Ok – the flax isn’t giant – I just took an extreme closeup. The spot that I originally planted the flax has been largely taken over by asters, but there are a few flax plants that seem to have found a spot that the rabbits haven’t noticed.

Wild Lillies
This is another plant that I hope to get growing in the yard. I think that there might just be a single spot where I’ve seen them growing in the forest over the past couple of years.

Prickly, maybe, but also Beautiful
The Prickly Pear is doing great again. These flowers are short-lived but always so cheerful and beautiful.

Go-Go Gaillardia
The Gaillardia continue to plug along – even though they maybe have a less than optimal position – squeezed out a little by the expansion of the Potentilla.

Shooting Star
I think I tried to grow these, but was unsuccessful. I have seen them in several places in the forest – but not in previous years. I think the massive amount of Spring water is changing the fortunes of some of the forest plants.

So Many Roses
The roses in the forest are doing well this year. We have considered planting some variety of wild rose in the yard, but there seems to be pretty limited availability and some of the varieties seem to be described as “aggressive”. Maybe it is best to just enjoy them in the forest.

Decay
The mulch is getting processed into soil.

Blue Ice (Blue Star)
These are always cheerful and really low maintenance.
